De-icing road salt application as a part of winter maintenance is standard practice with over 60 billion kilograms applied to roads worldwide each ensure traffic safety. However, high concentrations chlorides in melted ice and snow runoff from parking lots can have adverse effects on both surface ground water, especially vulnerable areas. A area sensitive salts where additional management measures may be required mitigate potential environmental effects. The main objectives this paper were present new design method for sizing Enhanced Roadside Drainage Systems (ERDS), demonstrate the findings 3 year field monitoring assess long term performance ERDS using PCSWMM. conceptual was also modelled its effectiveness protecting To showcase method, we completed two case studies, one relatively pristine headwater stream moderately impacted urban stream.
